Not all Maltese beaches are equal when you're managing a toddler and a sun hat. We've ranked these by water depth, facilities, shade access, and sand quality — the factors that actually matter when you're travelling with kids.
Babies and toddlers need shallow, sandy entry — Golden Bay and Mellieha Bay are the top choices. Older kids want rock jumping and snorkelling, which makes Ghajn Tuffieha a favourite. In summer, the north-facing bays (Armier, Cirkewwa) stay calmer and cleaner. Use the map filter to browse by area.
Gozo's beaches are quieter and less crowded in shoulder season (May, September). Ramla Bay is the standout — red sand, shallow entry, and a beachside café that serves food fast. Ferries from Cirkewwa run every 30–45 minutes in summer. We've mapped everything, so you can plan the crossing and beach visit in one trip.
